12 Dublin Cocktail Bars not to miss

The Hendrick Bar

No better a way to spend an evening in Dublin than in the company of your most desired cocktails. Paired with a great atmosphere and good conversation. We’ve chosen some of Dublin’s finest cocktail bars so you can indulge in a little extravagance!

Celebrate a special occasion in Dublin city centre with a fantastic cocktail menu in an ideal spot. Maybe along fade street, in the boroughs of the city or maybe off a hidden lane on Grafton street. Dublin Cocktail Bars are excellent for a pre-dinner drink, for a delicious drink before an event at the 3Arena. Take a read through a couple of our favourites.

Vintage cocktail club

In the epicentre of Dublin’s liveliest streets try and spot the discreet black door with the letters V.C.C. Temple Bar can be full of unusual surprises and this one can take a small bit longer to spot than others. Crown Alley is a lively street along the cobbles of Temple Bar, with dozens of pubs, chip shops and clothes stores. There is a black gate with ‘Guinness’ across the front, turn 180 degrees until you see a black building, and a dingy door… You’ve found the entrance to VCC.

Vintage Cocktail Club oozes the air of a 1920s speakeasy. It’s styled to perfection taking you right out of reality and serving up a dishy evening of elegance and class. The bar serves a wide range of specially crafted and award winning cocktails. We’ll treat you like the VIP you are at The Hendrick. We’re rest assured you’ll get the special treatment at Vintage Cocktail Club too. Ring their doorbell, slip inside and enjoy the escape!

The stella cocktail club

The Stella Cocktail Club reflects the same style and décor as its sister Vintage Cocktail Club. Just a short distance to Rathmines, you’ll find The Stella Cocktail Club incorporated into the newly refurbished Stella Theatre.

The Stella Theatre transports you back to a time where film takes centre stage. Cinema is celebrated by showcasing the splendour of fine details and tasteful décor. The Stella Cocktail Club mimics the theatre offering a sense of exclusivity alongside quality drinks. Although without the need to see a film. Instead sit back and soak up this vintage atmosphere while sipping on swanky tipples.

The Church Irish Coffee Experience

There are not many Irish cocktails, albeit the much loved shot Baby Guinness. So we’ve included one spot to fetch a real Irish drink. The humble Irish Coffee, made with a revived Irish whiskey. Roe & Co is named to honour one of the countries best makers, George Roe & his co. Distilled right next to St. James’ gate, this new iteration of whiskey is used in the Church’s Irish Coffee.

That’s not all, when you book the Irish Coffee Experience you’ll be guided around the 320 years of history. From the chapel where Arthur Guinness was married, to the floorboards where Ronald Reagan once stood, it’s all included in your Irish Coffee Experience ticket!

A table setting has two clear glasses each filled with a dark coffee topped with a thick white cream and brown chocolate shavings. The IRish coffee on the right is in focus, with the coffee on the left out of focus. There is a white tablecloth underneath.

The blind pig & The little pig

One of Dublin’s many hidden secrets. The Blind Pig and its sister bar The Little Pig are found tucked away in the city. The Blind Pig is an adored underground cocktail hideout evoking the mood of a 1920s speakeasy. Book an appointment and enjoy the thrill of secret directions, hushed passwords and false storefronts. We’re not giving anything away, but…. push the pig as you enter….

Similarly The Little Pig, also in the heart of the city, is an acknowledgement to the beautiful venues that during the prohibition kept people socialising with far from parched palates. Enjoy the finest martinis, the fanciest champagne cocktails and Old Fashions that are the best of the best! Ireland’s finest mixologist, Paul Lambert is behind the idea of this creative speakeasy.

The Hendrick Cocktail Bar

While you’re getting ready in your room, have a couple of the Hendrick cocktails ordered to your door! Our bar has a menu of signature cocktails to choose from, and wow they are good.

Personally, I love the foaminess of the Fee Foam in the Whiskey Sour. It replaces the egg whites to make this incredible cocktail available to all. With a huge mix of beers, wines and spirits available in the Hendrick Bar, your night out should always begin with one of your favourites in the comfort of our spacious lounging area. If you’re hungry, you can grab a light bite from toasties, pizzas and bar snacks.

Farrier & Draper

Farrier and Draper has a bit of everything, with three floors of beautifully decorated rooms. It is located on the gorgeous South William Street. Between an underground renowned Italian restaurant La Cucina, luxurious Georgian rooms, a Mezzanine to swoon over. It’s bar has a stunning collection of exquisite spirits, whiskeys and beers, Farrier and Draper soars high in the list of renowned Dublin bars.

We adore its affinity to cocktails expressed in their dedicated cocktail bar built into the fabulous Georgian Room. Unrivalled drinks and quality service are made all the more special by the room’s beautiful furnishings accompanied by crystal chandeliers and marble top tables. Hugely talented in house mixologists ensure your taste buds are left tingling.

Fidelity

Fidelity, is dedicated to creating some truly unique cocktail experiences. Not even a 5 minute walk from The Hendrick, enjoy a truly luxurious evening in one of Dublin’s audiophile bars. Burrowed away in the heart of Smithfield, forget your inhibitions and let loose!

Enjoy a selection of vinyl classics played in the evening. As well as a range of classic tracks to groovy hip hop over their speaker stacks. Their modern range of cocktails include a stunning Basil & Black Pepper Marg, an incredible flavour profile. If you’re hanging with somebody not so familiar with the cocktail scene, Fidelity is a tap house for a local brewery, Whiplash. The draught craft beer selection spans over 16 taps, and includes 4 wines.

Fidelity is highly commended for an impressive number of their own cocktail creations. However, if even nothing catches your eye, Ask the mixologists if they can create anything you like, to order! We love to stop in here for a post-dinner drink on our way back to the Hendrick. Admittedly. this is probably the one of the best cocktail bars dublin has, in the most unconventional way.

Laszlo’s Cocktail Bar

Tucked into Stephen’s Green Mercer street, Laszlo’s is the bar of the Arthaus Hotel. Tight green booths wrap around the dimly lit bar, with a grouping of tables in the centre of the floor. A huge mural is the centrepiece of the room as you enter into the new Dublin cocktail bar.

The menu at Laszlo’s uses premium spirits to create a show stopping list of drinks. The world’s best vodka for 2024 makes an appearance in the ‘Strawberry Delight’. It’s paired with lime, pineapple and of course strawberries. Those who don’t want to veer off the known path can be inspired with the ‘Old Fashioned’ mixed with Bulleit Bourbon.

Pygmalion

Pygmalion; by day, a chic venue for lunch, with access to Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. By night, its cheeky side appears, morphing into an intimate night club and much to our delight a space where music is appreciated and devoured.

It’s hot location, outdoor terrace, great music, even better parties and hugely addictive cocktails mean PYG is perfect for a night out to enjoy a blend of casual drinks and late night antics. Did we mention that their 2 for 18 cocktail deals are nearly too good to be true? Wait until you taste them!

The ever buzzy fade street

I think it’s wise to blend this location of four places into one. When you walk into IdleWild, Fade Street Social, Market Bar or Bar with No Name, you may well just pass into the next bar. While the cocktail experience in Bar with No Name may be a little better than the rest. Dylan McGrath’s Fade Street Social has a strong leg in the Dublin Cocktail Bar scene.

This area of Dublin 2 takes in a lot of places, and is the place to be seen when you’re out for drinks. The South William Street area takes in Dawson, Fade St, Georges St, Dame St and even a little bit of Temple Bar. Starting around this area is a recipe for a good night in the Dublin Cocktail Bars.

Peruke & periwig

We have a certain soft spot for this gem on 31 Dawson Street. Even the name Peruke & Periwig instils delight, fondly named as the property was once a wig makers. Now the venue still remains a source of merriment promising a memorable drinking and dining experience. Why is it one of our favourites? Inspiration from all genres of music were used in order to create their spectacular cocktails.

Unconventional, just the way we like it, and some questionable ingredient adjustments led to the delicious results from Peruke & Periwig. Appropriately called Jazz, Pop, Blues, Jam-In and our favourite Rock and Roll, to name only a few. Well worth a visit if cocktails are your guilty pleasure and stylish presentation is your weak spot. They genuinely take the title of best cocktails in Dublin.

Cafe en seine

Nestled next to Peruke & Periwig, Dawson Streets hotspot Café En Seine fights for the title of best Dublin cocktail bar on offer. The elegant art nouveau bar is an all day affair. With an incredible selection of bites and food offerings. Their range of Irish craft beers make a perfect pre-dinner drink if you happen to be dining in one of the streets many restaurants.

However, at night it is Café En Seine ground floor bar and heated terrace that really catches the eye. The espresso martini along with the rest of the classic cocktail menu matches the styling plush seating. However it’s the box office flair of the bartender, the small bit of theatre on display as your drink is created. There is a perfect balance of fun and sophistication for us to round off our list here.

The wrap up

Whether it’s a loosener before dinner, or an all night party. Dublin Cocktail Bars offer an unforgettable experience of creative cocktails, sensational snacks and a custom sound filled with jazz, electronic and house music to the early morning. You may not find too many rooftop terraces, and with the Dublin weather, maybe you wouldn’t want to. Cocktail enthusiasts may be put off by walking into some of the classic ‘watering holes’ in Dublin City Centre, but even bars lined with beer taps can be the perfect spot for a delicious cocktail.

If you’ve spent the night with your head in a cocktail list on Camden Street, the chances are you’ll want to have a late check out tomorrow morning. At the Hendrick, check out is 11am, but just call the front desk for a late check out! When you do wake up, there is a number of delicious food options for brunch around smithfield.
