National museum of Ireland – decorative arts & History
Just a 10 minute walk from The Hendrick, The National Museum of Decorative Arts & History is the obvious next step for someone following a browse of the art on offer at The Hendrick. The museum at Collins Barracks, a remarkable venue in itself following renovations, will leave you in awe of its spectacular display of weaponry, ceramics, furniture, glassware, Asian art and so much more.

Another ideal place to visit if you’re staying at The Hendrick is the Gallery of Photography especially if you’re interested in art in all its forms. You’ll find it just across the river in Temple Bar featuring the best of Ireland’s photography. The gallery has free admission and allows visitors to book tours in advance, also free of charge.
Black church print studio
While in Temple Bar we highly recommend you check out Black Church Print Studio to see if they are running any exhibitions. A little gem in the treasure trove of the city, the studio supports contemporary artists and showcases art through the medium of print making.
National Gallery of Ireland
Located in the centre of Dublin, the National Gallery of Ireland displays over 2,500 paintings and roughly 10,000 art works in other mediums. The National Gallery also includes a Yeats archive where a prestigious collection is held, a small part of which includes Jack. B Yeats’ sketchbooks for over fifty years. All of the stunning masterpieces within the gallery guarantee to impress and inspire to create.
The Hugh Lane Gallery
Displaying modern and contemporary art work, Dublin City Gallery provides significant insight into Irish culture and the evolution of art over time. The Hugh Lane: 100 Years Exhibition saw the return of all 39 paintings from Sir Hugh Lane’s 1917 bequest to the gallery. Great works from renowned stained-glass artist Harry Clarke can also be marvelled at here.
Douglas Hyde gallery
Located on the campus of Trinity College in the centre of Dublin city, the Douglas Hyde Gallery presents innovative exhibitions that inspire creativity, learning and research. Their annual programme consists of 10 major exhibitions which is enhanced by artists’ talks, discursive events, films, concerts and exhibition tours. It’s definitely worth having a look and a good excuse to browse the city centre.
